  1. Ghana’s Cybersecurity development ranked third in Africa

    The 2020 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) report of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) released this week has placed Ghana third, behind Mauritius and Tanzania, with a score of 86.69 percent on the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) of the (ITU).
  2. Lorenz ransomware attack victims can now recover files with this free decryption tool

    The Lorenz ransomware decryptor is the 120th ransomware decryption tool released for free as part of Europol’s No More Ransom project.
  3. Emerging cyber threats in the mining sector

    57% of small and medium-sized enterprises believe they would go out of business from a serious cyber attack, according to a new report by ENISA (the EU’s agency for cybersecurity).
  5. Insurance Broker A.J. Gallagher Reports on Investigation Into 2020 Ransomware Attack

    An investigation by insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. into a ransomware attack on its systems last September has revealed that personal data on individuals was accessed. The broker is in the process of contacting affected individuals.
  6. Google Chrome will get an HTTPS-Only Mode for secure browsing

    This new feature is now being tested in the Chrome 93 Canary preview releases for Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, and Android.
  7. Alleged Capital One hacker faces 20 years in prison for stealing 100 million customers’ data

    The US Justice Department has filed additional charges against the hacker accused of illegally accessing more than 100 million Capital One customers’ accounts and credit card applications in 2019.
  8. Chinese hackers suspected of using Dropbox to snoop on Afghan officials

    Hackers with ties to China have been targeting the emails of Afghan security officials with malware meant to scoop up everything on their desktop, according to a Thursday report from researchers at Check Point.
  9. Brazil’s Fleury resumes main client services after hacker attack
    (The Rio Times, 01 July 2021)
    Fleury (FLRY3) medical diagnostics group said Wednesday it has resumed its main client services after notifying the market a week ago that it had suffered a hacker attack against its computer systems.
  10. Ukrainian Hacker Sentenced to Prison in Billion-Dollar Cybercrime

    A high-level member of the hacker group known as FIN7 was sentenced June 24 to seven years in prison and ordered to pay US$2.5 million in restitution.
