OSINT-y Goodness, №11-BoardReader
It’s pretty simple, really, BoardReader is a search engine to use for queries about posts to forums or message boards.
The main search page is very minimalist.
I used the search term of “malware” just to test out the functionality of the website.
The basic search will give you results in this format:
If you click on the cog icon in the search bar, you will get some qualifiers to filter the search:
If you click the chart logo next to the cog, you’ll see the trends for your search term. They call this page/section, “Trendy,” in case it wasn’t clear.
You can turn the graph on or off simply by clicking the icon. Same goes for the cog and the filters, click on or click off. When you are on the screen with the cog search, you will see a link for “Advanced Search” over to the right. If you click that, you will get a whole new page with different search parameters to query.
That pretty much sums up the BoardReader site. Use a keyword or keywords to get search engine results for posts to forums and message boards. There’s not a lot of information about the site itself, so it’s not clear if any links go to sites that may have a paywall or other login requirement to see content. I will assume all of this is just openly available data, since nothing has been indicated otherwise.
Although they have a Twitter handle, they haven’t posted since 2015.
